My name is Lori Landrum Telgen and I grew up right here in Kennett, MO.  After graduating high school in 1982 (I know . . . that's a long time ago), I attended college at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky.  I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary and Special Education in 1986.  I began my teaching career in 1986 (ok . . . now you're doing the math - yep this is my 31st year teaching!) in Gosnell, AR where I taught K-5 Self-Contained Special Education for two years and Second Grade for four years.  In 1992, my husband and I were transferred to Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, IL.  While in Belleville I worked for a private school that provided special education services for children birth to 21.  I was a Parent/Infant Educator and I worked with children and families of children born with developmental delays.  A year later I moved back to Kennett and began working for the Dunklin Day Activity Center as the Director.  In October of 1993 I was hired by Kennett Public Schools to work with Parents As Teachers as I continued as Dunklin Day Activity Center's part-time director.  Then, in August of 1995 I began teaching Early Childhood Special Education where I taught until May of 2010.  For the 2010 - 2011 school year I began teaching in the Resource Room as an LD Instructor for 3rd and 4th grade students at South Elementary.  And finally in July of 2015, Dr. Leeker called and asked if I might like to come teach at KHS in the 11th and 12th grade LD Classroom.  And the rest is history!  What has really been fun for me is seeing your children grow up.  I have had the unique opportunity to have some of these kids in preschool, then at South School and finally again at KHS.  Not many teachers can make that claim. Thanks for sharing you child(ren) with me for so many years.

Aside from being a teacher, I am also a mom to two great girls, Jordan, who is an ELA teacher in St. Louis and Joely, who is currently a senior at KHS.  I will be an empty nester in the near future, so lucky for me there are a lot of things I enjoy doing to keep me busy.  I love to redo antiques and make them beautiful again.  I also have a line of chalk paint I sell at Circa Boutique.  I also love to build my own furniture for myself and sometimes for other people when they ask me to.  I always think I can DIY anything, but I have learned that I have my limits (there's the nasty little mess with replacing the dishwasher that my family won't let me forget about.  In fact, Jordan said she thought she was going down on the Titanic.  But we won't talk about that anymore).  Anyhow you can usually find me on weekends and in the summer wearing paint-stained shirts and pants or shorts playing around in my garage with all my power tools and paint and whatever else I can find to experiment with.  You can stop over on my FB page Beauty in the Boot/Lori Landrum Telgen to say hello anytime.
